Thyroid Gland Disorders
Accurate Diagnosis and Effective Treatment
Accurate diagnosis of thyroid gland disorders is essential for effective treatment. Both hormone function and anatomy of the thyroid need to be considered for many thyroid disease diagnoses. We utilize blood tests to measure thyroid hormone levels, such as TSH, Free T3, and Free T4. Ultrasound imaging may be used to help visualize the thyroid gland directly and detect nodules or structural abnormalities. Ultrasound may be used to follow size changes or existing nodules that may be changing in size.
In some cases, fine-needle aspiration (FNA) biopsy of a nodule may be necessary to distinguish if a nodule is benign or malignant. Our goal is to provide a precise diagnosis, enabling us to tailor a specific treatment plan. The DESSWO team works closely with highly skilled pathologists and surgeons to care for complex nodular disease.
